About Us

Eclectico Records started out as side business of Eclectico but has grown into it's own stand-alone business and online store in the same location in Acland St, St KIlda.

We are in fact the only remaining independent record store in this musically legendary sea-side suburb which is home to venues The Palais and The Prince Bandroom. Bands such as The Boys Next Door, Hunters and Collectors, Paul Kelly and Men at Work all gained their early followers at venues such as The Espy, Bananas, Joey's, The Venue, The Crystal Ballroom and The Palace.

We only sell what we have in stock and do not drop ship. We are proud of our 100% satisfaction rating on Discogs and take care in our cleaning and grading of used records and CD's.

We use the best quality vinyl mailers available and have extremely low rates of damaged shipments. We endeavour to ship within 48hrs and usually do.

What you see here on our website is all available for collection in the store. Please purchase and use store pick up if you want to collect or if you prefer to see the item before purchase, email or call us, to make sure it's ready for your visit. We do keep some bulkier items such as classical box-sets in our nearby warehouse but can have it at the store with 48hrs notice.

After years playing music in his stall in markets and festivals such as Glastonbury and Womad Alan's passion for music took a step up when he starting selling CD's and then vinyl records in Eclectico from 2011. His interest in vinyl started with his first purchases of 7" singles in the 1970's from his local shop in Kent, UK. Apart from being coerced by his older brother to spend his pocket-money on X-Ray Spex's 'The Day The World Turned Day-glo' and The Jam's 'Down in the Tube Station at Midnight' he remembers buying 'Red Red Wine' by UB40 as his first 'adult' single. First solo gig attended was New Order at Royal Albert Hall in 1987 standing in the Gallery for £8. Favourite artists include David Bowie, Nick Cave and Fela Kuti.

From music supervision to radio volunteering, Deon wears many hats in the Melbourne scene. Whilst his first gig was One Direction, he has done plenty to atone for such sins, and is now a regular at The Tote, 3RRR and the Palais Theatre. An ardent supporter of the local underground scene, Deon is attracted to anything from the avant-garde to the raw and lo-fi. You can catch the elusive cultural aesthete in person every Saturday for a good yarn.

Sascha has had a love of music since she was very little. She fondly remembers her big silver stereo from childhood, and at age 6 would play her only two CDs on repeat - Shania Twain and the Spice Girls, of course! She was constantly going through her parents’ selection and most loved Bob Marley, Gipsy Kings, and everything under the bracket of classic Rock’n’Roll. The next bunch of CDs that made a huge impact were Evanescence, Metallica and Nirvana, which opened the doors to a lifelong love of rock and metal. Sascha’s passion for music has been embedded in her life - from spending all her money on gigs and festivals to running twice weekly radio shows up in the NT. Her most consistent obsession over the years has been with the King himself - she even wrote a few essays about Elvis at university! Sascha now listens to a wide variety of genres, but at the moment nothing surpasses Sleep Token… she would do almost anything to see Vessel perform live…

Zac grew up listening to his parents diverse, mainly import vinyl collection of funk, soul, blues, R & B (the proper, early stuff) rock, psychedelia, fusion, punk, early electronica and alt country. As a teenager he became an avid fan of Talking Heads and would button his collared shirts all the way up and wear suit jackets that were way too big for his gawky frame. Despite growing into an even gawkier adult he hates jazz but is totally willing to give anything else a listen.

Music has always held a special place in Natalia's heart, whether dancing to it, recording it on her tape recorder, or simply enjoying it. As a child, Natalia cherished wonderful memories of being surrounded by music. But it wasn’t until her teen years that she really started to appreciate it. Her first proper concert, Current Joys at the Prince Bandroom, was a total turning point for her and lit a fire for live music. Through friends and family, she discovered a whole mix of artists, from the whimsical sounds of Cocteau Twins and The Sundays to the raw energy of The Smashing Pumpkins and PJ Harvey.
