Having an intimate knowledge of Queens music - with A DAY AT THE RACES being my favourite from their expansive body of work - this remastered vinyl version is delicious. I last had this album as an LP back in 1981 and the difference is stark. There’s a warmer sound that seems to draw you into its tender hold…seeming louder and perfectly balanced in the mixing of vocals and instrumentation. I found, to my ears at least, that the bass was prominent with more depth. Brian Mays distinctive guitar work sounded cleaner. There seemed to be added grunt in “Tie Your Mother Down” while “The Millionaire Waltz” showcased his soaring finesse and strategic aggression with pristine polish. All in all…a triumph !!
